Cracking the People Code With Professional Speaker Bernie De Souza

As UK's leading Personality Profiler, Bernie De Souza is often asked if he can "read" people and their styles when he first meets them.

Years of practice shows he is astonishingly accurate when it comes to working out personalities and the things they like to do and wear.

Dominant people who are frequently leaders in business have a tendency to prefer black he finds and the more outgoing inspirational characters put brighter colours in their wardrobe than anything else he says.

He also finds that the third character types he studies are not snappy dressers because they are probably focusing on others in their caring sharing way.

Finally the cautious analytical people in the fourth category he knows like the back of his hand demonstrate are much more likely to be immaculately dressed. He has even noticed they are much more likely to have colour coded pens on their tidy desks.

It is this sort of attention to detail which sets Bernie apart from other presenters who merely take human behavioural processes and systems off the peg or purchase them online without the skills and knowledge he has built up over many years people watching.

The Personality Insights process was introduced to him decades ago by its American creator, Dr Robert Rohm.

Essentially they break up individuals into four distinct types. They point out to audiences that people are often solely typecast although many of us are made up of an amalgamation of the different types. The trick is working out which types we are as individuals and what sort of people our work colleages, spouses and friends are. It helps they say to get on with people if you know what makes them tick. The four main DISC profiling categories are:
  • Dominant “ D” types
  • Inspirational ”I” types
  • Supportive "S" types
  • Cautious analytical "C" types
At events Mr De Souza has been showing audiences of all kinds how profiling techniques point out the personalities behind masks we all put on.

De Souza not only presents at large events showing his unique personal skills, he also operates one to one mentoring for individuals and businesses as well as online guidance for recruiters in search and selection in particular.

“I can tell from the moment I meet people what sort of personality people are and the best jobs for them. I know the sort of people they are inside as well as out and can demonstrate what works best for their personality type. I even know know for instance from the tone of their voice on the telephone what kind of personality I am dealing with. This is especially useful in the sales environment where people watching is important.”

Mr De Souza is well known in the realms of sport where he has a big following amongst top name coaches who appreciate his profiling and management skills. The keen footballer and cricketer who is a level three cricket coach with MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club) is working with top teams again in 2010 to raise their game.
